How Energy Efficient is a Geothermal Heat Pump?

If you’re considering a geothermal heat pump for your home’s future heating needs, all we can say is this, DO IT! This new method for heating homes is extremely efficient. Let’s discuss why that is and you might be sold by the end of this post!

How is It Energy Efficient?

A geothermal heat pump is extremely energy efficient because it uses the power of the Earth’s consistent temperature to heat and cool your home. In short, a geothermal heat pump is installed in your home and pipes run down into the ground, about 20 feet below. At this depth, the Earth’s temperature does not change. It could be snowing up on surface level, but 20 feet down, it stays a constant 60-70 degrees.

A heat pump doesn’t have to use a ton of fuel to heat up water. Instead, the water that runs through radiators and baseboard heaters was actually just run through the pipes at that preexisting temperature that already is in place beneath the ground level. There is not a lot of extra work to be done in this process, meaning there is not a lot of energy used to do it.

Make the Switch, Save Energy

Your home, when being heated by a geothermal heat pump, isn’t burning a ton a fuel just to keep your home a consistent temperature. Instead, it is using the already consistent temperature underground to its advantage. Just by running water through these pipes underground, homes are able to stay warm due to geothermal methods. It’s a win for you and for the Earth.

Let Robert B. Payne help you make the switch to a geothermal heat pump or a geothermal cooling system. Energy efficiency isn’t a futuristic concept anymore. It’s here and now! 540-373-5876
